Frank
Gerlitzki's art is conceptual. His subjects are about communication,
opening and creating contact. His idea for this installation was simply
inspired by the space of EMG Art Center.
Six
stone columns as landmark are spread among the central cross-formed
part of the Art Center. Light, translucent curtains hang waving on the
ceiling, forming a geometric landscape in form of a labyrinth. The
curtains are slightly moved by the wind and some artificial fog leaves
the visitor alone in a meditative atmosphere which suggests a
mysterious virgin forest. The whole installation is like a giant brain,
and the visitor is passing through a brain's labyrinth where activity
and reflection (thinking) gets connected. That's why this installation
is called "connections".
And
that's probably the power of art which connects the unrelated things
and changes a cold and broken world into a home filled with love and
beauty. On the other side, activities in the space are troubled by the
curtains, the sound of machines, voices and other people crossing it.
The daily routine is broken down and the stereotype of thinking is
shattered, the vrain is full of troubles. That's different kind of
mystery in Frank's installation.
